John Kirkpatrick and eight fellow business leaders founded the Oklahoma City Community Foundation in 1969. Donors who wanted to provide charitable funds needed an easy and efficient way to do so and the community needed an organization that would help them. Endowment funds created by donors could provide long-term support for charities, scholarships and a variety of community needs.
To encourage nonprofit organizations to plan for their future...
Today the Kirkpatrick Family Fund continues John and Eleanor Kirkpatrick’s commitment to endowment building through our Endowment Matching Grant program which supports Charitable Organization Endowment Funds at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The purpose of the program is three fold: to encourage nonprofit organizations to plan for their future; develop a reliable source of funding that supports mission and program goals; and to engage a broad base of contributors from the community in the organization’s future.
